Banks managed by the DGF have paid to the creditors over UAH 2 billion since the beginning of 2024

From January to October 2024, the total amount of creditors’ claims of banks being liquidated by the Deposit Guarantee Fund (hereinafter – the DGF) exceeded UAH 2 billion. Of this amount, over UAH 81.5 million was paid out to creditors of the fourth tier (individuals and individual entrepreneurs above the guarantee amount), UAH 581.7 million was paid out to creditors of the seventh tier (legal entities-clients of a bank). The rest of the funds was paid out to the creditors of other tiers.

In addition, for the current year the DGF has directed more than UAH 1.1 billion of this amount to satisfy claims of the third tier, which includes the cost of the payout of the guaranteed reimbursement to the depositors.

In total, as of November 1, 2024, banks in liquidation paid UAH 70.8 billion to the creditors, of which UAH 18 billion was paid to secure depositors, more specifically, UAH 16.4 billion was paid to the National Bank of Ukraine (including through the foreclosure of collateral items and property of guarantors).

Claims of the creditors of banks being liquidated by the DGF aresatisfied at the expense of funds received from the  the sale and the management  of the banks’ assets. In particular, from the repayment of loans, securities income, income from renting property and other sources.

“The Settlements with creditors of banks managed by the DGF depends directly on the quality of the banks’ assets. Among other things, on availability of collateral. During the war a location of the property also matters. Loan performance is also important. Also, litigation status influences significantly,” – Director of the Bank Liquidation Department of the DGF Tetiana Startseva explains.
