In September, the amount of guaranteed compensation paid out to the depositors of the banks managed by the Deposit Guarantee Fund (hereinafter – the DGF) equaled UAH 128.4 million. As of October 1, the DGF reimbursed UAH 2,463.6 million to the banks’ depositors.
Recall that since the entry into force of the Law of Ukraine No. 2180-IX ‘On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Ensuring Stability of the Household Deposit Guarantee Scheme’ a 100% state guarantee for bank deposits was introduced for the period of martial law and three months following its termination or cancellation. This means that the DGF will reimburse the full amount of the deposits held in the banks declared insolvent during this period.
As of October 1, 2023, the DGF paid out UAH 99,266.2 million to the depositors of the banks put under the DGF management after the Law of Ukraine ‘On the Household Deposit Guarantee Scheme’ entered into force (February 26, 2012).
Prior to the entry into force of this law, the DGF paid out to the depositors UAH 4,686.4 million. Until 2012, the DGF only reimbursed the guaranteed amount to the liquidated banks’ depositors, while the provisional administration and liquidation procedure were carried out by the National Bank of Ukraine.
Thus, since its establishment, the DGF paid out UAH 103,952.6 million.
