The Deposit Guarantee Fund and Kyiv National Economic University signed a Memorandum of Partnership

The Deposit Guarantee Fund (hereinafter – the DGF) and Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman (hereinafter – KNEU) agreed on partnership and cooperation aimed at raising of financial awareness of Ukrainians, first of all, young people and children. Parties represented by Olga Bilai, DGF Managing Director, and Dmytro Lukianenko, Rector of KNEU, signed a relevant Memorandum.

Andrii Olenchyk, Deputy Managing Director of the DGF, Victoria Stepanets, Deputy Director of Bank Monitoring Department of the DGF, Liudmyla Prymostka, Head of the Banking and Insurance Department of KNEU, and Iryna Krasnova, Deputy Head of the Banking and Insurance Department of KNEU, also participated in discussion of cooperation prospects.

“Financial literacy is a guarantee of financial stability in Ukraine. That is why the DGF, as one of the key elements of the financial safety net, supports and implements projects contributing to the formation of sustainable financial habits of Ukrainians, as well as making the right financial decisions. These are, in particular, educational projects aimed at promoting financial awareness of youth that shall form financial future of the country,” said Olga Bilai, DGF Managing Director.,.

Within the framework of collaboration the parties agreed on the following:

  • Holding joint events in the sphere of financial education of the public, in particular, children, youth and teachers;
  • Promoting of each Party’s activity in a professional, business and expert community;
  • Exchanging  methodological, educational and other materials, resources and best practices ;
  • Implementing   educational projects for the public, NGOs, journalists, educators, government agencies, etc.

“Universities’ educational role is undeniable, that is why we react to the public demands, including those for strengthening of financial literacy, by developing  relevant programs in a timely manner. KNEU is practicing a complex approach for their implementation, starting with preparation of information, development of quality educational materials, to practicing financial literacy skills in the process of the educational professional program implementation, as well as involvement of professional practitioners. We are ready to enhance financial literacy of our students giving practical support through various joint activities with our partners,” Dmytro Lukianenko, Rector of KNEU, assured.

Signatories indicated that a financially aware society is one of the most important factors of the country’s economic growth, investments activity, as well as increase of the income level of population.
